Our return and exchange policies for rugs, sheepskins, and pillow products

If you are not 100% happy with your purchase, you may return it within 30 days after delivery. We want you to love your new hide — and if it's not the right fit, we'll make it right.

Important: Once your return is approved, the item must be shipped back within 7 days of receiving authorization. Returns not sent within this window will not be approved.

We keep our restocking fees as fair as possible:

Cowhides Direct can provide a return shipping label for $19.99 (Continental US, single-item orders), or you may use your own shipping.

Returns filed within 7 days of delivery: 10% restocking fee plus round-trip shipping costs.

Returns filed after 7 days (up to 30 days): 20% restocking fee plus round-trip shipping costs.

Note: The $19.99 label option is for single-item orders only. Multi-item orders use actual UPS rates.

We'd love to keep you as a customer. If your order doesn't meet the size, color, or shape you had in mind, an exchange is a wonderful option.

Great news: We provide a free return shipping label on your first cowhide rug exchange — at no cost to you (Continental US, ground shipping).

Exchanges must be initiated within 30 days of delivery. Non-cowhide-rug exchanges (pillows, calf hides, goatskins) are subject to shipping fees.

Multiple Exchanges: The complimentary return label applies to the first exchange only. Additional exchanges require the customer to pay shipping.

All items must be authorized before sending. Refunds will be processed only once Cowhides Direct receives the order in like-new condition.

All returns must be in new condition and in the original box (if possible). Without a return authorization number, a mandatory 25% restocking fee will apply.

Please note: Without authorization, your items may be lost in our warehouse. Cowhides Direct takes no liability for items lost without an authorization number.

The $19.99 return label option is available for single-item orders only. For orders containing multiple items, labels will be provided at the actual rate billed to Cowhides Direct from UPS.

Promotional items received with your order must be returned along with your qualifying purchase. If not included, the full retail value of the promotional item(s) will be deducted from your refund.

Example: If an accent hide valued at $79 was included free with your order, and you return the qualifying purchase without the accent hide, $79 will be deducted from your refund.

You may cancel your order if it has not yet shipped. Once an order has been fulfilled and shipped, cancellations are no longer possible, and any returns will be subject to our standard returns and exchanges policy.

Expedited orders received before 1PM EST will ship the same day.

Returns on orders that shipped with a free expedited shipping promo code will be refunded minus the actual round-trip expedited shipping amount.

Exchanges on orders using an expedited shipping promo code require the customer to pay all exchange shipping costs.

Orders returned or exchanged must be in like-new condition. Items that show signs of use, damage, or alteration will be sent back to the sender, and a refund will not be processed.

Lost & Damaged Items

How we handle shipping issues to protect your purchase

Delivery Confirmation: Carrier delivery confirmation constitutes proof of successful delivery. Upon delivery confirmation, the customer assumes full responsibility for the package.

Reporting Deadline: Lost orders must be reported within 7 days of delivery confirmation. Claims reported after this deadline are not eligible.

Investigation Required: All lost orders must complete a carrier investigation before replacement consideration.

Shipping Protection: Optional Shipping Protection covers packages lost in transit or that arrive damaged. This does not cover items reported as stolen when the carrier shows verified proof of delivery. All claims must be submitted within 7 days.

Damaged Items: Report damaged items within 7 days of delivery with photos. Please retain original packaging.

Chargeback Policy: Delivery confirmation serves as conclusive proof of delivery for all payment disputes.

In the rare case that an incorrect item is delivered, we will provide a free return label and offer a full refund or replacement. Items must be shipped back in their original packaging.

We cannot cover additional costs incurred by the customer, including personal labor, packaging materials, handling fees, or other associated expenses.

Cowhides Direct is not responsible for shipments lost due to incorrect addresses provided at checkout. If we receive an address change request after your order has shipped, we will do our best to reroute — however, we cannot guarantee accurate delivery.

You will also be responsible for any address change fees from the shipping carrier.

Damage to floors, rugs, sofas, beds, or any other surfaces caused by color or dye transfer from the product is not covered. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the product is used in a manner that does not cause damage.

Care reminder: We recommend not machine washing or using a mop or heavy water on any of our cowhide products.

Furniture

Special policies for our custom and curated furniture pieces

Each furniture order is uniquely made to order. As a result, all furniture sales are final and cannot be cancelled. Any deposits, whether partial or full, are non-refundable.

Due to the custom nature of all furniture pieces, we cannot accept returns on furniture items. Each piece is crafted specifically for you, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

For custom ottomans, we will select a rug that is as close as possible to what is pictured, but it will not be exact unless a specific rug is chosen and marked on your quote/invoice.

Important: You must make a cowhide selection within 3 business days of placing your order, or we will choose one for you.

Once production has begun (typically 3–5 days after the order is placed), we can no longer make changes to your custom order. Please confirm all details at the time of purchase.

Items shown on our website may vary in actual color due to dye lots and monitor settings. Slight variations from piece to piece are the natural beauty of genuine leather.

Free swatches available: We offer complimentary material swatches at no cost before your furniture order begins. If you do not order swatches, we will match the closest material possible by default.

In the rare event of transit damage, we reserve the right to repair or replace the piece. Warranties are provided by the manufacturer.

Damage at Delivery: Mark DAMAGE on the delivery paperwork. Notify Cowhides Direct within 48 hours.

Damage After Accepting: Notify us within 48 hours. Damages reported later may not be eligible.

Furniture items ship with standard curbside delivery. If delivery cannot be scheduled, after 7 days you will be subject to local storage fees. If we cannot contact you for 30 days past the ready date, all deposits will be forfeited. Shipping times are estimated and may vary.

Cowhides Direct does not provide a direct warranty on furniture. Many pieces come with manufacturer warranties or optional third-party protection plans. Any warranties are solely provided by those companies. We're always happy to help connect you with the right provider.

Cowhides Direct is not responsible for pricing errors on our site. In the rare event of a pricing discrepancy, we will work with you to find a fair resolution.

Any legal dispute arising from use of our website shall be resolved through arbitration or in the courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida.

By using our website, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Orders returned or exchanged that are not in like-new condition will be sent back to the sender, and a refund will not be processed.
